Luisa investigated the effects of a hypothetical pesticide tax in Europe on agricultural activities and the environment. For that, she built an agricultural sector model that simulates detailed crop production and includes the effects of pesticide applications on crop yields, revenues and cropland area. Through a scenario analysis, she then estimated the impacts of a pesticide tax under various climate scenarios until the end of the century.
In the future, Luisa wants to continue her research on economic and environmental consequences of different agricultural management practices at the FNK at University Hamburg. Overall, she hopes to contribute to a sustainable transformation of the food system.
Her thesis, "Pesticide Regulations in European Agriculture and their Influence on the Land-Food Nexus" was supervised by Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneider (FNK) and Dr. Kerstin Jantke (FNK).
