Since October 2025 Prof. Dr. Lars Kutzbach has been the Academic Head of the School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences SICSS. He is Professor for Soils in the Climate System in the Department of Earth System Sciences. Prof. Dr. Jana Sillmann (Professor for Climate Extremes and Deputy Director of the Research Unit Sustainability and Climate Risks) and Prof. Dr. Michael Schnegg (Professor at the Institute of Ethnology) are the Deputy Academic Heads of the School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences.

In the year 2020 Prof. Dr. Christian Beer, Professor for Dynamics of Soil Processes, committed to the M.Sc. program in Integrated Climate System Sciences ICSS and has been leading the program's fortunes ever since.
