On September 29, 2025, early career researchers from CLICCS gathered at the University of Hamburg for an inspiring day of reflection, exchange, and forward-looking discussions. The CLICCS Early Career Researcher Meetup provided a space to celebrate shared experiences within the cluster and to explore new perspectives for the future.
The afternoon began with a fishbowl discussion titled “What Stays, What Shapes Us?”, inviting participants to reflect on how CLICCS has influenced their academic and professional development. In small groups, participants exchanged experiences, lessons learned, and advice for future researchers.
Three interactive workshops followed, offering creative approaches to career reflection and planning. Participants could choose between a structured “Next Step Sprint,” a creative “Vision Collage,” or a hands-on “Bricks for Your Career Path” session using LEGO® Serious Play®. Each format encouraged participants to explore their goals and translate ideas into tangible next steps.
The highlight of the day was the “RealTalk Career” session, featuring CLICCS alumni from diverse professional backgrounds — spanning academia, industry, NGOs, and the public sector. In an open and honest dialogue, they shared personal insights, challenges, and takeaways from their transitions beyond the cluster.
The event concluded with a Future Lab focused on strengthening networks and identifying ways to stay connected across career stages. The evening wrapped up with informal networking over food, music, and a relaxed atmosphere — a fitting close to a day dedicated to reflection, connection, and new beginnings.
The Early Career Researcher Meetup showcased the strength and diversity of the CLICCS community — and reaffirmed that collaboration, curiosity, and shared purpose will continue to shape the paths ahead.
