Maria Ansari successfully completed her PhD thesis titled "Influence of the combination of biochar and rock powder on soil properties and soil organic carbon dynamics."
Her research investigates the application of biochar and silicate rock powder on agricultural soils. Both materials are promising amendments for enhancing soil fertility and contributing to carbon dioxide removal. The study focuses on whether combining these amendments leads to additive or synergistic effects, thereby amplifying their positive impact on soil properties and climate change mitigation.
The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr. Annette Eschenbach, with co-supervision by Dr. Joscha Becker.
Following the completion of her PhD, Maria continues working in soil science and will remain in the field until the end of November, focusing on finalizing related manuscripts and supporting the working group through teaching and mentoring.
We congratulate Maria Ansari on this academic achievement and wish her all the best for the next chapter!
