Four days, diverse perspectives on climate research, and an opportunity to get to know each other: the SICSS Introduction Course 2026 started today with 32 participants at Havenhostel in Stade!
Climate change is a complex challenge that requires perspectives from many different disciplines. Over the next four days, participants will explore a wide range of topics, from soil science and oceanography to anthropology, social sciences, and climate risks.
But the course is about more than climate research. It also offers space for personal and professional reflection: What motivates us to pursue a doctorate? What strengths, values, skills, and experiences do we already bring to our doctoral journey? And what do we need to navigate it successfully?
Also important, the course creates opportunities to meet fellow doctoral researchers, exchange experiences, build networks, and hopefully make new friends along the way. Because a doctorate is not just about research – it is also about the people and community around you.
We are looking forward to four days of learning, reflecting, exchanging ideas, and building connections across disciplines and beyond!
