My Main area of research interest is:
"Assessing Urban Heat Island Effects in Banjul: Implications for Climate Resilience and Public Health”. This research seeks to explain and understand; How pronounced is the Urban Heat
Island (UHI) effect in Banjul compared to surrounding rural areas? What are the main drivers of UHI in Banjul (e.g., lack of green spaces, dense concrete structures, waste heat from vehicles/generators)? How does heat stress
disproportionately affect vulnerable groups (low-income communities, elderly, outdoor workers)? What adaptation strategies (green roofs, urban forestry, cool pavements) could mitigate UHI effects in Banjul?
My motivation:
I am sincerely motivated to study at this university due to the world class research hub present at ICSS department. The program also provides a multi-faceted experience which combines a variety of disciplines to provide a unique academic taste. The program’s recommended nature also provides a variety of career opportunities after graduation. These I believe the University of Hamburg and the ICSS department uniquely offers.
