Short bio

Brigitte Frank is a doctoral researcher and research associate in the Cluster of Excellence Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CliCCS) at the University of Hamburg. She is part of the research group D°GREES (Decarbonization: Global Research on Effects in Enterprises and Societies) and works on the topic Decarbonization of the Economy. Her further research interests include science-based emission reduction targets, strategies towards a low-carbon economy, and the relationship between corporate carbon and financial performance.

Brigitte Frank joined the Chair of Management and Sustainability in 2014 as a student research assistant. Prior to her time at the University of Hamburg, she gained several years of practical experience, both as a freelancer and employed, working for various companies in the media and communications industry.

She studied Socioeconomics with a focus on Economics at the University of Hamburg as well as International Business and Sustainability in Hamburg and Brighton (UK). Both programs are characterized by an interdisciplinary approach. During her studies, Brigitte Frank was a founding member and the president of the student initiative oikos Hamburg.

In 2018, Brigitte Frank's bachelor's thesis "The relationship between CO2 emissions and profitability – an empirical analysis of the energy sector" was awarded the Dr. Walter Kapaun Study Prize. The foundation is honoring outstanding bachelor's and master's theses as well as dissertations on topics of sustainability and ethics. In addition, the Society of Friends and Supporters of the Department of Socioeconomics (GdFF) awarded the thesis the prize "Best Interdisciplinary Bachelor Theses in Socioeconomics".
