Dr Alexandra Franzke studied biology at the Universities of Göttingen and Jena and received her doctorate in evolutionary biology from Bielefeld University. Afterwards she did a research project as postdoc in the Chocó Rainforest of Ecuador in collaboration with Tulane University, New Orleans as well as at Bielefeld University. As a science manager, she worked for more than five years at the University of Freiburg in the field of research funding and career advising for postdocs and junior professors. At TU Dortmund University, she established the university-wide graduate center of postdoctoral qualification activities and was responsible for career coaching of postdocs and junior professors, as well as for the implementation of training and networking events. Since April 2021 she is the Head of SICSS Office and responsible for all concern for postdocs (R2 and R3 researchers). Furthermore she is a systemic coach and change manager (DBVC recognized). As such, she works freelance as a trainer and coach for career planning and third-party issues.
