Equality
Gender, Diversity & Family in CLICCS
At the School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences SICSS we coordinate the Gender, Diversity & Family program for the entire Cluster of Excellence CLICCS. CLICCS is strongly committed to equal opportunities in order to promote an inclusive culture that values diversity, which we consider a prerequisite for a successful academic institution.
CLICCS also regards the diversity of its members and staff as a source of strength to develop its full potential and innovative ideas. It recognizes that excellent science is fostered through open-mindedness and the promotion of multiple perspectives.

Our three pillars:
Diversity
At CLICCS, we promote equal opportunity for all individuals regardless of gender, color, disability, religion, etc. Our goal is to provide a safe working environment for everyone. Homophobia and transphobia have no place in the Cluster. We also take immediate action against all forms of sexual harassment. We all have the right to learn and work together in an environment free from discrimination.
To work on this, we offer a series of workshops and other event formats that have been specially developed to raise awareness of the issue and for our female scientists and girls who want to pursue a career in science.
If you have any questions or need advice, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Gender & Diversity Committee.

Family
Trying to balance a scientific career and family is often considered to be very challenging. In particular, limited-term employment contracts, the need to be (nationally or internationally) mobile, and the high pressure to publish are major obstacles to fulfilling family obligations. We regularly offer workshops on reconciling family and career.

Mental Health
Mental well-being is one of the important issues in our society, in working life and also in academic careers. In this context, together with Desiree Dickerson PhD, we offer workshops from which you will not only learn a lot for your career, but also for your life.
We welcome excellent scholars of all genders, nationalities, religions and sexual orientations.
