We are proud to announce the successful disputation of our SICSS member Zeguo Zhang
His dissertation “Reconstruction of climate fields using machine-learning methods” was supervised by Prof. Dr. Corinna Schrum (Helmholtz-Zentrum hereon and Universität Hamburg) and Dr. Eduardo Zorita (Helmholtz-Zentrum hereon).
Zeguo investigated different machine learning methods on the aspect of the climate field reconstructions. These included the investigation of traditional linear regression methods and state-of-the-art artificial neural network methods for reconstructing surface temperature and sea surface height fields, which could provide us with a spatial perspective to analyze past and future climate variabilities. He also discussed the potential applications of machine learning methods on the aspect of biogeochemical and geology variables.
Zeguo was a member of the Institute of Coastal Systems, Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Geesthacht.
Zeguo’s future plans?
Zeguo is going back to China to continue scientific works in a University as a normal lecturer.
