Jakob's thesis "Climate Tipping Points Assessing the Probabilities of Triggering Them and the Amplification of Global Warming from Tipping Points within the Earth’s Carbon Cycle" was supervised by Prof. Dr. Tim Lenton (University of Exeter) and Prof. Dr. Hermann Held (University of Hamburg).
He investigated: The probabilities of triggering multiple climate tipping points under various emission scenarios and the additional warming that might be caused by tipping points within the Earth's carbon cycle. He relied on the simplistic climate model FaIR (Leach et al. 2021) which he extended with a conceptual model of the tipping points within the Earth's carbon cycle to predict the behaviour of climate tipping points up to the year 2500.
For his master's thesis, Jakob spent a year abroad in Exeter. He will start a PhD on tropical circulation within CLICCS and the IMPRS graduate school in June"
