Coffee, cinnamon rolls, engaging conversations, new friends and inspiration for research - in summery Sweden. Recently, Doctoral candidates from SICSS were at the University of Lund (Sweden), Universität Hamburgs partner university, to connect with members of ClimBEco, the graduate school of the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science of Lund University.
The aim was to learn more about each other's research, build and strengthen international relationships and friendships and thus lay the foundations for future collaborations.
The SICSS members were warmly welcomed by ClimBEco coordinator Cheryl Sjöström at Lund train station on Monday evening, May 13. Tuesday started with a fika (Swedish for coffee break) with ClimBEco doctoral members at the university. The Office for International Affairs then hosted lunch at the venerable Bishop's house. There SICSS and ClimBEco members presented their research and had an intensive exchange. In the afternoon there was a guided tour around the university campus. Ultimately, the magnificent day ended with a joint dinner.
And the visit to Lund was just the beginning. The next day, the train went to Norrköping for the Swedish Climate Symposium (15. - 17.05.), a conference where scientists, researchers and politicians come together to discuss and share the latest findings and developments in the field of climate change. Report to follow.
