The SICSS Introduction Week took place in Stade from 4 to 7 November 2024 - an exciting event for our 14 new doctoral candidates! During these days, the outstanding strength of SICSS as an interdisciplinary graduate school became particularly clear. Right from the start, the participants got the chance to learn that research does not only take place in a ‘quiet little room’ and in their own discipline. They explored how diverse scientific approaches and methods from different fields can enrich their research work.
In addition to interesting and dynamic lectures, the event offered interactive workshops in which participants could reflect on and develop their individual strengths and competencies. One highlight was the networking activities, such as the city tour of Stade and the bowling night, which encouraged participants to socialize and build important bridges with each other.
The feedback was consistently positive. The participants felt well supported and were particularly happy with the mix of scientific input and practical experience. The SICSS Introduction Course 2024 was therefore not only an important foundation for personal and scientific development, but also a fantastic opportunity to expand the network within the doctoral candidate community!
