The School of Integrated Climate System Sciences (SICSS) proudly congratulates Dr. Mengyao Ma on the successful defense of her doctoral thesis, marking a major milestone in her academic career.
Dr. Ma conducted her doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Corinna Schrum and co-supervision of Dr. Wenyan Zhang, focusing on the formation and evolution of estuarine turbidity maxima in the Pearl River Estuary. Her work employed cutting-edge hydro-sediment dynamics modeling to explore both historical trends and future scenario simulations, contributing valuable knowledge toward sustainable estuary management strategies. Her thesis exemplifies the application of advanced modeling techniques to better understand coastal sediment dynamics—insights that are increasingly critical in the face of climate change and human impact on marine systems.
Looking ahead, Dr. Ma will continue her research as a postdoctoral researcher at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, where she will contribute to a project investigating the morphodynamics of the German Bight.
SICSS is proud of Dr. Ma’s accomplishments and looks forward to the impact her expertise will have in advancing coastal and sedimentary research.
