On July 1st, 2025, SICSS once again hosted its annual Career Talks & Summer Party – an evening dedicated to exploring career paths, connecting with peers, and enjoying a relaxed summer atmosphere.

We kicked off with the Career Talks, designed to inspire and guide early career researchers at all stages, whether you're in your Master's or PhD. This year, we were excited to welcome three distinguished speakers who each showcased a unique post-SICSS journey:

• Dr. Adrian Heger, who transitioned into the private sector and now works as a consultant at an IT consulting firm.
• Ana Luévano de la Cruz, a trained meteorologist, now holding a meaningful and impactful position at Vattenfall.
• Dr. Alexander Beitsch, who made the switch to education and currently contributes to teacher training with the City of Hamburg.

Their insights and experiences provided valuable takeaways for anyone considering their next steps – from navigating transitions to finding fulfilling roles beyond academia.

As the sun set, we moved on to the Summer Party, enjoying chilled drinks, tasty snacks, and lively conversations out on the terrace. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for this inspiring and joyful evening. We’re already looking forward to seeing you at the next edition in 2026!
