We warmly congratulate Kubilay Demir on the successful disputation of his doctoral thesis titled “Effects of variable organic matter C:N:P stoichiometry on carbon cycling in the northwest European shelf seas.”
In his dissertation, Kubilay investigated how variations in the ratios of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in organic matter influence marine carbon cycling in the northwest European shelf seas. His work provides important insights into how these stoichiometric changes affect the efficiency of the biological carbon pump, air–sea CO₂ exchange, and coastal–open ocean carbon fluxes.
The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Corinna Schrum (primary supervisor), with Prof. Helmuth Thomas as official co-supervisor and Dr. Moritz Mathis as second co-supervisor.
Following his successful defense, Kubilay will continue his research on the marine carbon cycle of the coastal ocean, extending his focus to global scales within CLICCS II.
Congratulations on this important academic milestone!
