Guideline for Postdocs and Senior Researchers
In the Guideline for Postdocs and Senior Scientists' Career Development in the Cluster of Excellence ‘Climate, Climatic Change and Society’ (CLICCS), the cluster establishes its principles and standards.
The Cluster of Excellence CLICCS provides sustainable framework conditions for postdocs and senior researchers to conduct excellent research and build an independent international research profile. CLICCS stands for a culture of early independence in research and supports postdocs and senior researchers in the diversity of their potential future career paths.
The cluster pursues a strategy of internationalization to attract the best researchers from around the world and to offer attractive positions nationally and internationally to highly qualified postdocs and senior researchers within the cluster. CLICCS upholds a culture of appreciation and recognition of diversity. It is resolutely committed to making career and decision paths transparent and providing researchers with the opportunity for early personal profile development. The diversity of career paths is equally and, to best possible extent, supported and promoted in CLICCS.
Postdocs and Senior Researchers
Postdocs or Recognized Researchers (R2) are not yet fully independent, particularly in terms of having their own extensive visibility and research output. They are mostly researchers up to 4 years after obtaining their doctorate. The group of postdocs is primarily in the orientation phase and development for independence in research.
Senior Researchers or Established Researchers (R3) have already developed a certain degree of independence and are usually doing research more than 4 years after receiving their doctorate. R3 Researchers are expected to complete habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements within a reasonable time - depending on the qualification periods in the sense of the “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz” (WissZeitVG).
