Jihye Jeong has successfully completed her graduate thesis titled “Towards Sustainable Food Security in Namibia: Agricultural Adaptation under Future Climate and Development Pathways.”
In her work, Jihye explored how Namibian agriculture could evolve under future climate and socioeconomic scenarios, viewed through the lens of school feeding initiatives. Her research highlights both the challenges and the significant, often underappreciated potential of Namibian agriculture, showing how the adoption of suitable farming practices could strengthen food security and resilience in the long term.
The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneider and Dr. Kerstin Jantke, whose guidance supported this interdisciplinary research at the intersection of climate change, development pathways, and food systems.
Looking ahead, Jihye is keen to apply her expertise in food security projects, particularly within international organisations or NGOs, contributing to practical solutions for sustainable development.
Congratulations on this important achievement, Jihye, and best wishes for the exciting paths ahead
